Why we built The Nanny Project!
As a new parent, I struggled to find a nanny. I experienced a massive ‘trust deficit’ in the entire hiring process. And as I shared my experience with other parents, we realized that there are a common set of doubts we all struggled with. ‘Where do I even start to look for a nanny’, ‘the nanny’s references sound fake’, ‘agencies aren’t providing reliable information’, ‘how do I trust this stranger with my child’ etc.
While there is a lot of information available; it is scattered across websites, WhatsApp groups and informal referrals As working parents, most of us simply don’t have the time or resources to sift through all this information and make a good decision. As we continued our interviews, Parents were clear about one thing- “I’d surely hire a nanny who has worked with someone I know; that would definitely reassure me”!
The Nanny Project is our attempt at bringing these three elements together—easy access to information, community-led reviews and recommendations and thorough background checks—to make your decision‑making journey easier.

What is The Nanny Project? How do I benefit from it as a Parent?
The Nanny Project is an online platform that helps parents discover, compare, and review nannies and other childcare options in their neighborhood. Parents can sign up, browse nanny profiles, read reviews from other parents, and then contact nannies or agencies directly using the details provided in the listing. Easy access to information and better decision making!
Why do I need to sign up to access Nanny details on the website?
The Nanny Project shows detailed nanny information only to registered users. Signing up and creating an account helps us offer you more accurate, personalised options in your neighborhood, reduce misuse of phone numbers and personal details and eliminate fake reviews. It also lets you save favorites, rate and review nannies you’ve worked with, and receive important updates about your shortlisted options.
Are you a nanny agency? Do you employ nannies?
No. We are not a nanny agency and we do not employ, manage, or influence nannies. Any agreement about work, salary, and timings exists directly between the parent and the nanny.
Do you verify nannies?
We conduct 1 level of verification by collecting their Govt. ID details and documenting their address and contact details. We help parents with the nanny’s police verification or background check when they opt for it. We strongly recommend that parents do their own checks (ID verification, references, police verification where possible) before hiring.
Our society has a lot of options when it comes to trusted domestic service staff. Why do I need to specifically check for any nanny’s feedback or background information?
Most societies, these days, have society management apps to store information about daily help and also keep track of their entry and exit. However, most of this information is scattered or incomplete. Parents are unable to view a nanny’s full background or typical duties, and rarely see honest, structured feedback. The Nanny Project collates all this information in one place.
You are entrusting your child with a nanny. It is absolutely critical that you are aware of her Govt. ID details, address, feedback from previous employers and opt for a police verification/ physical address check, where necessary.
Do you charge parents any fees?
We do NOT charge Parents any commission/ agency cut/ hidden fees for Nanny placements.
However, we do charge a nominal monthly subscription fee from Parents. This is to ensure that they have continued access to new listings and reviews on the website. Also, if parents opt for additional services like background verification, there is a nominal fee for the same.
Do you guarantee that I will find a nanny?
No platform can/ should guarantee a match. We make it easier for you to discover options and make informed decisions. The availability and final fit will depend entirely on the nanny and parents
What if I have a problem with a nanny I found here?
Any work-related disagreements or issues need to be resolved directly between the parents and the nanny. However, parents can update us or write a review to help other parents, and can also report serious concerns to us so that we can review the listing.
Do you handle payments or contracts?
No. All payments, contracts, and terms of work are directly between you and the nanny/agency.
What is the scope of The Nanny Project’s responsibilities?
We provide a platform to list nanny profiles and collect reviews
We do not supervise daily work, set salaries, or guarantee performance.
We are not responsible for any payments, disputes, or outcomes of the arrangement between parents and nannies.
Should I use The Nanny Project to find a nanny or go through an agency?
The Nanny Project helps you discover more options in your vicinity, compare profiles and read genuine reviews from other parents, and contact nannies or agencies directly at your own pace. Our platform offers unbiased insights to help you take the right decision for your child!
An agency usually works more like a broker: they shortlist a few candidates for you and help you hire one; however, you will find fewer options, depend on their payment terms and might not always receive accurate information about nannies registered with them.
Who can write a review?
Only registered parents who have worked with the particular nanny should leave a review. We do not endorse second‑hand experiences or hearsay.
Can I edit or delete my review later?
Yes. You can update your review after logging in. If you find any difficulty in doing so, please reach out to us via our Contact Us link and we will do the same for you.
What happens if I see a fake or unfair review?
We request you to report any suspicious or fake reviews immediately. Our team will check and may conceal/ remove any reviews that break our guidelines.
